WebThe Caesar cipher (or Caesar code) is a monoalphabetic substitution cipher, where each letter is replaced by another letter located a little further in the alphabet (therefore shifted but always the same for given cipher message). The shift distance is chosen by a number called the offset, which can be right (A to B) or left (B to A). WebIt is a simplest form of substitution cipher scheme. This cryptosystem is generally referred to as the Shift Cipher. The concept is to replace each alphabet by another alphabet which is ‘shifted’ by some fixed number between 0 and 25. For this type of scheme, both sender and receiver agree on a ‘secret shift number’ for shifting the alphabet.
